  • Overview

    Vornado is accepting applications for an operations position in our Tenant Service Center (TSC), which sits at the heart of our engineering operations. The TSC is a world class command and control center where 80+ of Vornado’s buildings are managed and controlled from a central location. From this center all of our buildings are operated, including the control of all set points, schedules, and alarms. In addition, the TSC supports our onsite engineering teams and serves as resource for troubleshooting, optimization, and a host of other engineering and facility management activities. This role will have responsibility across Vornado’s Washington division, which is one of the largest real estate portfolios in the country.  We are recruiting an operator for a shift that covers nights and weekends. This is a critical role in our operations, as the operator is often the only person on shift. The position oversees the operation of equipment to maintain the proper operations across our portfolio, as well as programs the start time of equipment for morning start up.


    Required Education and Experience: 

    • Experience using building automation systems, such as Siemens, Johnson Controls and Tridium
    • Ability to appropriately respond to building automation systems alarms
    • Strong communication and phone etiquette skills
    • Must be reliable and dependable with excellent attendance, and have schedule flexibility to respond to emergencies
    • At least three (3) years of work experience operating large office, multifamily, medical or hotel HVAC systems
    • Industry and trade licenses/certifications are considerations

    Candidates with prior experience in any of the following fields would be beneficial: 

    • Military experience working in mission control rooms, propulsion plants, or other mission-critical systems (such as an Officer of the Watch and related fields supervising equipment performance)
    • Work in a power plant, NOC, or other large mission-critical mechanical system monitoring equipment, managing alarm responses, and checking equipment or device performance
    • Work as a controls engineer or controls technician for building automation systems (BAS) / energy management systems (EMS)
    • Working in a 24/7/365 operations center
